Course overview
This course brings AI into every stage of 2D animation: character design, storyboards, voices and lip-sync. You still learn the animation principles and software that studios expect, so you can direct the AI and polish what it produces into a finished animated short.
What you will learn
- Character design with AI: Generate character concepts, turnarounds and expression sheets, then refine them in Photoshop and Illustrator.
- AI storyboards and animatics: Turn a script into storyboards and a timed animatic with sound.
- Animation principles: Timing, spacing, squash and stretch, and acting, applied in Adobe Animate.
- Rigging and motion: Puppet rigs, walk cycles and camera moves in Adobe Animate, Character Animator and After Effects.
- Voice and lip-sync: AI voice-over (with consent), automatic lip-sync and sound design.
- Finishing and publishing: Compositing, effects, titles and exporting for YouTube, reels and festivals.
Tools you will use
Midjourney · Adobe Firefly · Krita AI Diffusion (free) · ChatGPT · ElevenLabs · Adobe Animate · Adobe Character Animator · After Effects
We teach the tools studios and agencies use and that are quickest to learn, mainly Adobe Creative Cloud and leading AI services, and point out free alternatives where they are just as good. The tool mix changes as the technology moves on.
